Per F1C Rules

Nico Hulkenberg - last (22 - 14 points)
Aston Martin - 5th with 730 points
Part 2 - Summary
With the new factory set to come online in
2023 and the massive investment from new (ish) owner Lawrence Stroll, I think
we all saw massive potential. They are
two years into their 5 year plan to win the Championship and Mike Krack has
said they are still on target to meet that objective. Considering they finished 7th in the
standings after losing the tiebreaker with Alfa Romeo. I hope they are on target, cause I’d love to
see them win, but I’m not seeing it just yet…
Part 3 – Qualifying
Z`Seb made Q2 and Q3 on 5 occasions and was
knocked out in Q1 10 times, qualifying an average position of 15.1, qualifying
in the top 10 in 5 races, ninth all 5 times - Imola, Monaco, Baku, Suzuka, and
Abu Dhabi.
Lance made Q3 on 3 occasions, Q2 on 7
occasions, and was knocked out in Q1 11 times, qualifying an average position
of 15.7 - 10th at Miami and Zandvoort,
and 7th at COTA.
Nico never made it out of Q1 in his 2
appearances in 2022 though he didn’t arrive in Bahrain until after midnight
Thursday night before the round of practice sessions
Sebastian outqualified Lance 13-9, including
the first two races which Seb was out for, so really Seb whooped Lance 13-7.
Part – No Number Sprint RaceResults
Lance finished 15-13-16 at
Imola-Austria-Brazil
Seb finished 13-19-9
Seb almost scored points in Brazil, buuuuut he
didn’t.
Aston sucked it up in the sprint races.
Starting Position
Sebastian started at an average position of
14.1 starting in the top 10 7 times - Monaco, Baku, Spa, Japan, COTA, Brazil,
and Abu Dhabi
Lance started at an average position of
14.7 starting in the top ten 4 times - Miami, Spa, Zandvoort, and COTA. Lance did start higher than Sebastian on 9
occasions, but removing the two races Seb was sick for, it’s only 7. Seb started 13 races ahead of his teammate.
Part 4 - Qualifying vs. StartingPosition
Lance moved up a total of 24 positions from
where he qualified to where he started, an average of +1.1 positions per race
while Seb moved up 21 positions +1.0 position per race.
Lance moved up 5 or more positions in 3 races
- Austria (5), Belgium (5), and Italy(6).
Seb moved up 6 positions each in Belgium and Italy. As a team, they improved their qualifying position
more than any other team quite significantly.
However, they were mostly toward the back in qualifying, and without
doing extra upgrades, there’s only one direction for them to go.
Part 5 - Starting vs. FinishingPosition
Not only did the Aston Martin drivers improve
from qualifying to starting position the most, they also improved the most from
where they started each race to where they finished.
Lance improved a total of 76 positions over
the season (3.3 per race) and Seb improved 47 positions (2.3 per race). Lance
improved 5 or more positions in 11 races, and Seb did the same in 6 races.
Lance had on average more potential places to
gain, but he still did very well in improving his position throughout most
races.
Part 6 - Race Results
Sebastian scored points in 10 races with a
highest finish of 6th (twice) in Baku and Suzuka. He finished 8th 4 times in
Imola, Spa, Singapore, and COTA. He
finished 9th at Silverstone, and 10th in Monaco, Hungary, and Abu Dhabi. He finished 11th 3 times and 12th once.
Lance scored points in 8 races with a highest
6th place finish in Singapore. He
finished 8th in Abu Dhabi, and 10th 6 times - Imola, Miami, Canada, France,
Zandvoort, and Brazil. He finished 11th
and 12th 3 times each. He was on the
cusp of scoring points in 14 races…..but he didn’t so it doesn’t count.
Part 7 - Team Winner
Seb qualified 1.1 positions better than Lance
and made Q3 on 5 occasions to Lance’s 3 visits to Q3.
Lance improved from where he started each race
to where he finished each race by 1.0 positions per race more than
Sebastian. If we normalize for the races
Seb missed, this margin falls to 0.8 positions per race.
Accounting for the races Vettel missed, Seb
finished ahead of his teammate 10 times to Lance’s 9. Seb also scored more than double the amount
of points Lance scored and ultimately carried the team.
